We’re thrilled that the ASHA Convention is back this year, and we can’t wait to see you there! We know your schedule is probably jam-packed, but be sure to join National NSSLHA at the (in person and/or virtual) events below . . .

November 18–20
CC, Exhibit Hall, Booth 1317

Stop by the NSSLHA Lounge to say hi, meet your National NSSLHA student leaders and staff, and make new friends! While there, nab one of our free giveaways and ribbons, and snap a pic at our selfie station.

Interested in meeting other students who are in the same stage of their CSD education as you, are interested in the same CSD topics, and/or live in the same region as you? Be sure to stop by one (or more!) of our meetups:

  • Undergrad Student Meetup: 10:30–11:00 a.m.
  • SLP Grad Student Meetup: Noon–12:30 p.m.
  • Audiology Student Meetup: 1:30–2:00 p.m.
  • Northeastern Region Meetup: 9:00–9:30 a.m.
  • Central Region Meetup: 10:00–10:30 a.m.
  • Southern Region Meetup: 11:00–11:30 a.m.

  • Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action Meetup: 3:00–4:00 p.m.
  • Western Region Meetup: 4:30–5:00 p.m.

Date/Time TBD
Location TBD

We’re currently looking for students who are interested in participating in short video interviews about the CSD student experience and the National NSSLHA member experience! Interview topics will include:

  • how being a National NSSLHA member amplifies your voice and empowers you as a student,
  • how you incorporate cultural competence into your lifelong learning, and
  • what allyship looks like to you—and how you demonstrate it.

If available, please stop by [LOCATION] at [TIME TBD]. Filming should take no more than 30 minutes.

November 19, Noon–3:00 p.m., EST

Whether you’ve already stepped into a leadership role and are looking to improve your skills or you’re aiming to learn more about how to be a leader, you won’t want to miss this leadership development opportunity co-hosted by ASHA’s Minority Student Leadership Program (MSLP) and National NSSLHA!

Register today to join us, in person (CC, Room 145B) or virtually, to hear Dr. Brandi M. Baldwin—a thought leader in leadership psychology, an author, and an entrepreneur. For those joining us in person, lunch is on us!

November 18–19
Join us on Zoom

Although there will be no in-person Grad School Fair/PhD Center at the ASHA Convention this year, we hope that you’ll join us virtually to chat with CSD program reps about graduate and/or PhD program goals, curricula, clinical experiences, opportunities for participation in research, and more! CSD programs from across the country will be attending. You don’t want to miss out!

This virtual event is co-hosted by National NSSLHA and ASHA.

Seminar: Utilizing Student Leadership to Support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in CSD Disciplines

November 20, 3:00-4:00 p.m., EST.
CC, Room 204AB

2021 ASHA Convention Planner: Session Info

Student leaders have a unique opportunity to influence the future of the communication sciences and disorders (CSD) field and ensure that tomorrow’s clinicians demonstrate cultural competence, responsiveness, and humility in their professional practice. This session focuses on developing leadership skills related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as students and future clinicians in CSD.

National NSSLHA’s Executive Council and National Advisor will guide attendees through critical thinking exercises to develop a framework for inclusive leadership. You’ll explore resources and opportunities to better serve culturally and linguistically diverse populations as students. And you’ll be empowered to support DEI initiatives at the organizational and institutional levels and leave a lasting impact on our professions.

We hope to see you at Convention later this week! Be sure to tag us on Instagram using these hashtags: #NSSLHAinDC #NSSLHA #aud2b #slp2b
